Attend a Progress Party!
Friends – I am holding neighborhood meetings across the district to talk with you about my Plan for Palmetto Progress. We are calling them Progress Parties.
My plan, based on the conservative ideals we share, can make Aiken County and South Carolina more competitive in today’s global economy by recruiting jobs, cutting taxes, reining in wasteful spending, preserving our natural resources, fighting illegal immigration, reducing the cost of health insurance, and building an education system that provides a trained workforce. I hope you will join me at one of my meetings to learn how you can help move our area and our state forward.
The next planned Progress Parties are:
March 31st - Academy Leisure Club
The corner of Canal St. and Cemetery Rd.
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
April 1st – Houndslake Country Club
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
April 15th - Palmetto Golf Club
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Light refreshments will be served. I can’t wait to see you.

Running to share my Plan for Palmetto Progress
I’m running for the State House to share my Plan for Palmetto Progress with Aiken County voters. Having been born and raised in Aiken, I understand and appreciate the quality of life that we enjoy in Aiken County. It is important that we preserve that quality of life but also work to move our region forward.
Based on the conservative business principles of Ronald Reagan and Carroll Campbell, my plan can make our county and our state more competitive in today’s global economy by recruiting jobs, cutting taxes, reining in wasteful spending, preserving our natural resources, fighting illegal immigration, reducing the cost of health insurance, and building an education system that provides a trained workforce. Many people in state government talk about change, but unfortunately it’s followed by inaction while our state remains in neutral. My plan will support efforts to restructure state government and efforts to strengthen family values.
Aiken Standard | Attorney will join race for District 81
Local attorney Tom Young Jr. announced he is joining the Republican field of candidates who will seek to fill Rep. Skipper Perry’s seat.
A week ago Young confirmed he was strongly considering making the move but officially threw his hat into the ring Tuesday. Perry said earlier this month he will not seek re-election to the seat he has held for eight years.
Young said the theme of his campaign will be “Plans for Palmetto Progress,” a set of short- and long-term goals he believes will benefit District 81.
“Based on the conservative business principles of Ronald Reagan and Carroll Campbell, my plan can make our county and our state more competitive in today’s global economy by recruiting jobs, cutting taxes, reining in wasteful spending, preserving our natural resources, fighting illegal immigration, reducing the cost of health insurance and building an educational system that provides a trained workforce,” Young said.
Augusta Chronicle | Aiken native to run for seat vacated by Perry
Aiken native Tom Young announced Tuesday that he will run for the State House District 81 seat being vacated by Rep. Skipper Perry.
“I’m running for the State House to share my Plan for Palmetto Progress with Aiken County voters,” he said in a news release. “Having been born and raised in Aiken, I understand and appreciate the quality of life that we enjoy in Aiken County. It is important that we preserve that quality of life but also work to move our region forward.”
Mr. Young said his plans include helping Aiken County and the state recruit jobs, cutting taxes, reining in wasteful spending, preserving natural resources, fighting illegal immigration and reducing the cost of health insurance.
